Artist Statement 

My first goal is always be as creative as possible and I approach drawing and painting in ways that allow me to make 
 discoveries and be inventive. While I want my drawings and paintings  to be as unusual as possible, I  always want them based 
 on sound artistic principles. My goal is to produce drawings that are personal and intimate and have a mystique that holds a 
 timeless fascination. I also enjoy painting realism and non-objectives, in oils, that are rich in color, design and rhythm and have an up-lifting 
 sense of power.

Bio

 Born in Middletown, New York, an hour outside New York City, Jay was fortunate to have access  to the 
city's wonderful museums.  From early childhood he drew and wanted to be an  artist.  In his teens he began to study life 
drawing and oil painting from professional artist Elaine Sinnard.  He went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree
from the Maryland Institute  College of Art.  He has shown work in various galleries, has done freelance and was Art 
Director  for Hitex Industries based in St. Petersburg, Fl.
